This was the first piece of furniture made of horns made by Charles A. Calwell (1873-1975). Calwell lived with his wife, Nancy Ellen, in Wetmore, Kansas. He gathered horns from Texas Longhorns that were dehorned in Wetmore. Furniture made of horns was popular toward the end of the 19th century.
