Peter Navarre and his wife, Minnie, served as owners and editors of the Rossville Reporter for 40 years, purchasing it in March of 1913. Peter Navarre was born March 26, 1884, in Rossville. He worked at the Rossville News office, then owned by U.G. Stewart, from 1901-1903 and 1904-1909. He married Minnie Massey on September 24, 1910. Bill and Betty Murray purchased the paper in March of 1953 after the Navarres retired. The Navarre's lived at the present site of 534 Main Street. This photograph is provided through a pilot project to host unique cultural heritage materials from local libraries on Kansas Memory and was accomplished by mutual agreement between the Northeast Kansas Library System, the Rossville Community Library, and the Kansas Historical Society.
