The Kansas Central Committee of Iowa suggests a different overland route to Kansas, recommending that emigrants travel through Iowa instead of Missouri (to avoid conflict with Missouri proslavery supporters). Also the committee wants men from the west to come to Kansas instead of eastern men, since travel from back East would be too expensive.
