George W. Deitzler was a free state supporter and resident of Lawrence, Kansas Territory. He was active in social activities in Lawrence, and was an officer in the Kansas Volunteers for the Protection of the Ballot Box. Deitzler was also part of a free state group, along with Charles Robinson and John Brown, Jr., that was arrested and held prisoner near Lecompton.
