This letter was written by Theodore Hyatt of New York to his brother, Thaddeus Hyatt, president of the National Kansas Committee. Theodore berated his brother for his business dealings in Kansas--Theodore had had negative experiences with investors and was not willing to lay himself on the line again. He also wrote that he "will not invest another dime in that miserable, God-forsaken country" called Kansas Territory. The rest of the letter discusses bank accounts and financial matters, and includes a brief mention of a horse that Theodore had purchased from S.C. Pomeroy.
