Trackside three-quarters view of "Breaking In," the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway's 2-10-2 type steam-powered mountain-type freight engine (ATSF #3878), on the "slipping track" at San Bernardino, California. The thick volume of smoke shown was generated just for the photographic effect and was not normal for this engine.
