Pipestone is a soft, fine grained material that can be carved and shaped. This piece has been carved in the shape of a horseshoe with fine decorative details incised on one side. The reverse also has incised decorations though they appear unfinished. The horseshoe was donated in the early 1956 and may have been made for the tourist trade.
