This ceramic vessel was restored from 10 fragments recovered from an archeological salvage project in 1994 at the Living the Dream site by Kansas Historical Society archeologists and crew. The jar has an expanding conical shaped body, a flaring rim, and two opposed strap handles. The upper body is mostly present while the lower body is mostly added and shaped plaster applied during the vessel's reconstruction. There is black crusty residue in place on both the exterior and interior of the vessel. The site, in Cowley County, was a Great Bend aspect village that had been severely impacted by modern activities. The people that inhabited Great Bend aspect sites are ancestral to the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes.
