Transcript of a Record of Immigrants to Kansas which joined the second party, at Syracuse on the 14th May 1856 under the patrenages of the New York State Kansas Committee
William Cunningham from Granby Oswego Co N. Y. Age 22 years Single – Occupation Farmer Intends to settle in Kansas as a Farmer Takes with him about $80 in Cash. Well recommended by Ambria Kellog of Granby, and by Abner Bates Esq & Messr Van Buren & Smith of Syracuse. Recd from Mr Cunningham Twenty dollars. ($20.) gave him the N. Y. S. Committee Recpt. for same No 24 Furnished the Comt Passage Tickets for Suspension Bridge to St Louis Also, Furnished Passage Ticket from Syracuse to Sus. Bridge
Daniel Griswold from Dryden Tompkins Co N. Y. age 28 years Single- occupation Farmer Intends to settle in Kansas as a Farmer Designated by the N. Y. S. K. Committee , his appearance very good. Carried with him about $250 in Cash Recd from him $20 and gave him the Committee Recpt for the same No 25 – Furnished him Passage Tickets from Syracuse to Sus. Bridge. Also the Com. Tickets from Sus. Bridge to St. Louis
Silas W. Spaulding – Syracuse N. Y. age 35 – Merchant leaves with his Father in Utica Onon Co. N. Y. his wife & 2 children – Has a handsom Cash Capitol & possesses Energy & Enterprize Intends to settle in Kansas Recd from him $20 gave him Com Recpt for same No 26 Furnished him the Com Passage Tickets for Sup Bridge to St. Louis. Also Furnished him Passage Tickets for Syracuse to Sup. Bridge

John Page from DeRuyter Madison Co. N. Y. age 51 years – Shoe Maker - & understands Farming Is a widower his children all settled at the West. Recommended by Hon. Garret Smith His appearance very respectable Intends to procure Land in Kansas & settle upon it Takes with him sufficient means for support. Recd from him $20 and gave him the Com. Receipt No 27 Furnished him the Com Passage Tickets for Sup. Bridge to St. Louis. Also furnished him Tickets for Syracuse to Sus Bridge
Mrs. Louise Green – Syracuse - & child about year & half old – goes to join her husband (Samuel G. Green) formerly of Syracuse now settled in Kansas on 160 acres Land at a place called Grasshopper Falls, about 30 miles from Leavenworth – Means for support competent – Appearance is all respects very good Recd from her $20 and gave the Comit Recpt (No 28) for same Furnished Ticket for Syracuse to Susp. Bridge Also the Commt. Passage Tickets for Susp. Bridge to St Louis
Charles M. Beach 30 years of age Farmer & [courier?] from DeRuyter Madison Co. N. Y. leaves a wife & 2 children for the present. Intends to procure land in Kansas and settle upon it and send for his family Designated by the N Y S K Committee - His appearance quite good Recd from him $20 & gave Commts Recpt No 29 for same Furnished him the Commts Passage Tickets for Sus. Bridge to St. Louis – Also furnished ticket from Syracuse to Sus Bridge

George W. Wilbur 41 years of age Farmer with wife and 3 children all minors, 1 of them under 4 years old From DeRuyter Madison Co. N. Y. Pecunary circumstances moderate – appearance of the whole, quite good. The wife appears like a very smart energetic person & well calculated to settle in a new country – The oldest child a son & clean likely looking boy, about 17 years old – Think the Family may get along well with moderate means – Recd from him [$70?] and gave the Commt. Recpt (No 30) for the same, for 31/2 Passage Tickets Furnished 3 0/2 Passage tickets for Sus. Bridge to St Louis – Also 3 0/2 Passage Tickets for Syracuse to Sus. Bridge Designated by the N. Y. S. K. Com.
John H. Hawley Age 37 years Clergyman & Member of the M. E. Church of the Oneida Confirm – leaves a wife & 2 Children which he intends to send for after he has procured a plan for settlement in Kansas – Brings [Recommend?] from the Ruling Elder of the [xxx] to which he belongs. His appearance good Think he will prove an acquisition to Kansas Recd from him $20 & gave the Commt. Recpt No 31 Furnished him Passage from Syracuse to Sus. Bridge Also the Commt. Passage Tickets from Sup bridge to St Louis Designated by the N. Y. S. K. Commt.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a correct transcript of the record of Immigrants for Kansas which joined at Syracuse the 14th of May 1856. This Second party under the patrenage of the New York State Kansas Committee
