This powder horn was donated by Chief Sylvester Tinker to the Kansas Historical Society in 1987. It once belonged to his grandfather, William Tinker, an interpreter for the Osage when they moved from Kansas to the Osage Nation in 1872. One end of the horn has been carved into a flange to house the cap and the other has a wooden base attached with nails. The Tinker collection includes hundreds of items such as these revealing the rich facets of Osage culture.
