These colorful gaming pieces were donated by Chief Sylvester Tinker to the Kansas Historical Society in 1987. They are made from split sections of rib bone and the cancellous surfaces have been colored. They were used to play games of chance: on which side would the pieces land, colored or uncolored. The Tinker collection includes hundreds of items such as these revealing the rich facets of Osage culture.
