These complete and fragmented dart points were collected from the Arrowhead Island site in Coffey County and donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1983, 1984, 1989, and 1992. Shown are expanding stemmed dart points in the top and middle rows and contracting stemmed dart points in the bottom row. Dart points would be mounted at the stems to the dart foreshaft, which would in turn be connected to the dart shaft. The assembled dart would then be thrown with an atlatl (spearthrower). The Arrowhead Island site was a village of the Early Ceramic Period and the Kansas City Hopewell culture.
