These pottery handles were recovered from a site in Mitchell County that was occupied by people referred to as the White Rock Oneota archeological complex, who moved into the Central Plains from the Upper Midwest during the Late Prehistoric (1000-1650 CE) period. The decorations are tool trailed or incised lines on or surrounding the handles. The site was excavated by the University of Nebraska and the collection was donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1987.
