This photograph shows O. Stewart as he squirts journal oil into the journal box of a rail car at the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company's hump yard at Argentine, Kansas. The original configuration of the west hump contained pits that allowed journals to be oiled while the cars were in motion over the hump. A car inspector pit was located directly beneath the hump track to allow a visual inspection to be made of the underframe.
