This corner-notched arrow point was recovered during the 2002 Kansas Archeology Training Program field school at the Cottonwood Ranch in Sheridan County. The arrow point is from an earlier period than the occupation at the sheep ranch (established 1878). Archeologists assign corner-notched arrow points to the Early Ceramic period, 1 to 1000 CE. The notches aided in hafting the point to the arrow shaft. The arrow point is made of local Smoky Hill silicified chalk.
