These two handle sherds were recovered from the Tobias site in Rice County. The handle on the left, recovered during a survey in 1991, has five vertical rows of punctates and was attached to a vessel with two rivets. The right sherd, donated in 1925 to the Kansas Historical Society, has three rows of vertical punctates and was also attached to its vessel with rivets. The Tobias site is a Great Bend aspect (ancestral Wichita) village that had dense artifact deposits, house remains and numerous deep trash-filled storage pits. The site is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
