In this video interview Richard Spain describes his upbringing in Oklahoma, his apprenticeship as a depot agent, and his experience working for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway as a telegraph operator. He primarily discusses the time period 1950-1985 as railroad communication moves from the telegraph to the telephone and teletype and into computer controlled systems.
