A letter from J. H. Wade, W. B. Perkins, and J. Perkins appoint Kansas Governor St. John as General Manager with the task of raising funds in Kansas for the monument of late President Garfield. A letter from J. H. Whitehead of Concordia, Kansas, informs the Governor he will act as agent for Cloud County for raising money for the Garfield Monument. The following letters are concerning contributions made for the erection of the Garfield Monument in Cleveland, Ohio. President James A. Garfield was assassinated in 1881, and a memorial was built in memory of the late President in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
