This file includes correspondence relating to the Kansas Freedman's Relief Association (KFRA) which is part of a larger collection of Kansas Governor St. John Correspondence. Letters from residents of Kansas, as well as other States, write to inform Kansas Governor St. John of their donation towards the relief fund. A letter from Richmond West of Barton, Alabama, asks the Governor if there is any work for him and his family as they are tired of living in the South and are looking for opportunities in Kansas. The Association was created in 1879 to aid freedmen, refugees, and immigrants who were migrating to Kansas.
