This file contains correspondence to Kansas Governor Humphrey relating to matters in the Office of Attorney General. A letter concerning the reward offered under the proclamation of Governor Martin for the arrest and conviction of the murderer Thomas Cody. A letter from the Sheriff of Sedgwick County, Kansas, requests the Governor issue requisition papers to Kansas City, Missouri for the arrest of S. H. England. A separate letter from L. B. Kellogg Attorney General, informs the Governor he agrees with the decision that Notary Public of Wallace County would remain as Notary Public until the said county is organized, and a clerk of the district court is elected. Additional letters pertain to requisition papers for fugitives, acknowledgment of communications concerning various matters, and investigation requests regarding many issues. The Attorney General provides legal services to state agencies and board, promotes open and accountable government, issues opinions, protects consumers from fraud, and assists the victims of crime as well as defends the state in civil proceedings.
