A letter on March 7, 1889, from Morgan Caraway, informs Kansas Governor he received the commission as Regent of the Agricultural College and gives thanks to the Governor for the appointment. A formal invitation from G. T. Fairchild asks the Governor to attend and give a speech at the Annual Commencement week for the Agricultural College. A letter on April 20, 1890, from F. P. Moore, acknowledges his appointment as Regent of the State Agricultural College. A document from the Department of the Interior on September 22, 1890, calls attention to an Act, entitled "An act to apply a portion of the proceeds of the public lands to the more complete endowment and support of the colleges for the benefit of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts, established under the provisions of an act of Congress approved July 2, 1862".
