These letters, spanning 1885 to 1887, are from the U. S. Department of the Interior, government officials, attorneys, and other individuals regarding school land matters, particularly the Agriculture College and Normal School, to Kansas Governor John Martin. The letters discuss the legislation focused on selling and redistributing school lands. There are also letters from individuals who discuss their opinion on the school land laws, calling them unjust.
