These letters, spanning 1885 to 1888, are from the Grant Monument Association and other individuals regarding the Ulysses S. Grant Monument to Kansas Governor John Martin. The letters discuss the creation of the committee, the plans for the monument, the resolutions passed at the Grant Monument Association meetings, and responses to Martin's memorial address at Ulysses S. Grant's birthday celebration. In 1889, the monument was erected in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
