These letters, spanning 1885, are from state offices and other individuals regarding the birthday celebration for Ulysses S. Grant to Kansas Governor John Martin. The letters discuss the plans for the event as well as raising funds for a monument in honor of Grant. Among the letters is a copy of the proclamation for Martin to use to address the audience at the celebration. The celebration was held in front of the Kansas Capitol building on April 27th, 1885.
