These letters, spanning 1885 to 1888, are from the residents and offices of Wabaunsee County, Kansas regarding county affairs to Kansas Governor John Martin. Most of the letters claim a vacancy in the county coroner position with a signed petition endorsing John C. McElvaine. John T. Keagy, probate judge, wrote his resignation and recommended L. Richards. Wabaunsee County was one of the first 33 counties created by the Territorial Legislature, and was organized March, 25 1859. The county was named for the Potawatomi Indian chief, Wabaunsee.
