These letters, spanning 1886 to 1887, are from the residents and offices of Pratt County, Kansas regarding county affairs to Kansas Governor John Martin. The letters discuss various topics including farmer issues, sheriff affairs, the moving of county records to the county, the county seat, and military affairs. Pratt County was organized on July 25, 1879 and named for Caleb Pratt, who migrated from Massachusetts to Lawrence, became active in politics, served in the First Kansas Infantry in the Civil War and was killed during the War.
