These letters, spanning 1887 to 1888, are from the Board of Harvey County Commissioners and the county surveyor regarding county affairs to Kansas Governor John Martin. The Board of Harvey County Commissioners wrote two different letters with signed petitions filling vacancies in the county coroner and surveyor. The county surveyor, Charles Nicolet, wrote his resignation. The board chose James Dawson to fill the county surveyor position and Dr. M. Miller to fill the coroner position. Harvey County was organized on February 29, 1872 and named for James Harvey, Governor of Kansas 1869-1873.
