These letters are from soldiers and members of the militia during the Price Raid regarding their claims for the raid to Kansas Governor John Martin. Some letters request the claims for soldiers of color affected by the raid. Other letters ask for their claims and/or the status of claims. The Price Raid was a multi-day running battle that happened very near the Kansas-Missouri border in the fall of 1864.
