These letters, spanning 1887 to 1888, are from state officials regarding the 26th Judicial District judge to Kansas Governor John Martin. The letters discuss the creation and appointment of a 26th Judicial District judge. The recommended candidates were Thomas O. Shinn, Frank Doster, A. L. Redden, A. L. L. Hamilton, and E. Stratford. Shinn wrote that he would not accept the position. Martin appointed A. L. Redden as the 26th Judicial District judge. Redden's resignation and recommendation is included. A. L. L. Hamilton was Redden's successor.
