These letters, spanning March 1887, are from state officials regarding the 2nd Judicial District judge to Kansas Governor John Martin. The letters discuss the resignation of David Martin and the appointment of a successor to fill the vacancy. The recommended candidates, and ones who applied, were T. M. Pierce, A. F. Martin, and H. H. Jackson. H. H. Jackson was appointed as the successor.
