These letters, spanning 1885 to 1888, are from the State Board of Health and other individuals regarding the appointment of board members to Kansas Governor John Martin. The letters recommend various physicians to fill openings on the board. Signed petitions are among the letters. The Kansas State Board of Health was created in 1885. It consisted of nine physicians, each a graduate of a medical college who had at least seven years of continuous practice in his or her profession.
