These letters, spanning 1885 to 1889, are from wardens, clerks, and the board of the Kansas State Penitentiary regarding the penitentiary's general affairs to Kansas Governor John Martin. The letters include various topics such as investigations of corruption, pardons for individuals, reports of the conduct of convicts, building maintenance, individual cases, and prison statistics. There are also official letters with lists of individuals pardoned with their county, crime, date of sentence, term, and date of discharge.
