Most of the letters in this file are in relation to Native American scouting in different parts of Kansas. One letter to Kansas Governor St. John discusses the possibility of the Southern Cheyenne moving north. Another letter gives the governor an update on recent travels and who he has met with including the Ponca and Cheyenne. These letters share the whereabouts as well as any activities of several of the Native Americans groups in Kansas.
