A letter from F. W. Ollinger Attorney for WaKeeney, Kansas, informs Kansas Governor St. John that an individual by the name of Thomas Wooten has committed murder and wounded two others. In the letter, Ollinger provides details of the event and where it took place. A separate letter from S. J. Osborn requests the Governor offer a reward for James McCollom and Thomas Wooten. A letter from the wife of Thomas Wooten asks the Governor to pardon his charges, she claims the shooting was done out of self-defense. An anonymous letter to the Governor suggests that Wooten was burned in a box. Additional letters ask the Governor to punish the mob and the parties involved in taking Wooten from the Sheriff.
