The documents in this file pertain to matters of Harper County, Kansas. A letter from W. H. Olmstead informs Kansas Governor St. John that a safe from Harper County has been stolen by a group of sixty men, he requests assistance to recover the safe. A separate letter from James B. Brodnix gives a detailed statement of the troubles existing between Harper and Anthony County in regard to County Seat. Another letter from J. J. Merrick asks the Governor to investigate reports about the trouble in Harper County before sending troops to enforce the laws. A petition from citizens of Harper County request W. B. Stevenson of Anthony, Kansas be appointed as Probate Judge for Harper County.
