Atwood, Mayor of Ellsworth City informing Kansas Governor St. John of a vacancy in the office of Probate Judge for their county, in the letter he also recommends a certain individual for this appointment. A separate letter also discusses the recent death of Honorable V. B. Osborne Probate Judge of Ellsworth, Kansas and advises Governor St. John that he will likely be the recipient of many applications for said position.
