This letter, dated March 2, 1883, is from J. M. Mahr, M. D., to Kansas Governor G. W. Glick. Mahr, a resident of Montana, Kansas, is applying for the appointment onto the State Board of Health, if the legislature orders such a board. The Kansas State Board of Health was created in 1885. It consisted of nine physicians, each a graduate of a medical college who had at least seven years of continuous practice in his or her profession. It is now called the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
