This photograph represents a bedroom for teachers' children at the Shawnee Indian Mission in Fairway, Kansas after reconstruction in 1942. The wallpaper and bed portrayed in the photograph are reproductions to what would have been used, and the coverlet on the bed is dated to 1849. The chair viewed through the door frame was a corn husk woven seat. In 1968, the Shawnee Indian Mission was declared a National Historic Landmark and has since been under the operation of the Kansas Historical Society.
