The documents in this file concern the military in the State of Kansas. This description does not cover all the documents in this file. A letter on April 17, 1876, from T. L. Green, states he recommended Horace Cooper of Beloit, Kansas to the Attorney General, and requests twenty guns and 1000 cartridges. A letter from Lieutenant D. C. Taylor, asking for authorization to raise a company of volunteers to march against the Native Americans if Kansas is called upon to do so. A letter on October 7, 1874, from Chief of Ordinance, S. V. Benit, in relation to the issue of 2000 carbines on Governor Osborn's application and requests the arms the state received during the war to be turned into the Ordinance Department at the Rock Island Arsenal Base.
