A copy of a telegraph on June 4, 1873, from Kansas Governor Osborn, advises Major R. J. Dodge to arrest and hold prisoners that act against the civil laws until Ford County is fully organized. A letter on July 5, 1873, from Major Richard Dodge, gives an account of the disturbances in response to the murder of Taylor in Dodge City, Kansas. A letter on July 14, 1873, from M. V. Cutler, informs Governor Osborn it has been quiet in Dodge City since the murder of Taylor, he also recommends an individual for the appointment as Probate Judge for Ford County. A letter from E. A. Perry, Librarian at Cherokee, Kansas, states the library has received many donations except the Laws of Kansas and requests assistance in obtaining those laws and reports. Additional documents are petitions or correspondence to Kansas Governor Osborn concerning laws of new towns and cities, the organization of counties, and requests for the veto of the Act of the Legislature of the State of Kansas relating to cities of the first class.
