A letter on January 18, 1875, from J. D. Brumbaugh, asks Kansas Governor Osborn for the appointment as a member on the committee to remove laws. A letter on April 3, 1875, from W. J. Buchan, asks that Porter Sherman is given an appointment as a member on the Board of Regents or Instructor of some institution. In the letter, Buchan notes that Sherman is a strong man with the colored voters. A letter of application from William Voss for an appointment as Guard in the Penitentiary. Following letters concern appointments and recommendations of certain individuals for positions.
