A letter on September 21, 1876, from F. M. Shaw, asks Kansas Governor Osborn to write a letter of recommendation on his behalf that speaks to his character, business qualifications, and claims upon them. A letter on January 14, 1876, from Henry Sherman of Washington D.C., sends Governor Osborn a prospectus of new national books to be sold by subscriptions and requests to add Governor Osborn's name to the subscribes. A letter on September 18, 1875, from L. A. Tuttle, asks the Governor to recommend someone who can act as an agent on his behalf to go from town to town collecting material for the History of Kansas. A document of Joint Resolution No. 10, "Providing for the transfer of certain rights and franchises of the State of West Virginia to the United States" dated January 15, 1873.
