A certificate of election from Stacy B. Douglass, states at a meeting held on November 9, 1877, the Board of County Canvassers declared S. T. Wood as Surveyor of Sumner County, Kansas. A letter on February 12, 1878, from John G. Woods, informs Governor Anthony that S. T. Woods was nominated by the Republican Convention last fall, but failed to reach the County Seat in time to qualify under the statute, yet his appointment would give satisfaction to the people of Sumner County. A letter on February 12, 1878, from S. T. Woods, encloses various papers relating to his appointment as Surveyor of Sumner County. The following documents also pertain to matters of Surveyor for Sumner County.
