A letter on August 5, 1878, from John Francis, State Treasurer, informs Kansas Governor Anthony, Secretary of State, and the Auditor of the State that a statement has appeared in the Lawrence Journal stating sixty thousand dollars of the Kansas State School Fund were lost in the Master Bank and requests an examination of the Treasury concerning the report. A letter on February 11, 1878, from J. Francis, states he received $2073.34 in payment of a suspended war claim. A letter on March 28, 1878, from J. Francis about a deposit of Agricultural College bonds.
