This photograph represents the bedroom for teachers with a family in the North Building of the Shawnee Indian Mission in Fairway, Kansas. The bed portrayed in the image is made of cherry between 1835 and 1850, the walnut dresser fitted with a writing deks was built around 1840. The furniture in the room is from the time the room was in use by the Mission, the wallpaper is a reproduction to represent what would have been on the walls at time of use. In 1968, the Shawnee Indian Mission was declared a National Historic Landmark and has since been under the operation of the Kansas Historical Society.
