This photograph represents the interior of the Loom room in the North building after reconstruction in 1940. The rug loom portrayed in the photograph was made by an early settler of the Mission, the flax wheel dates to 1836, and to the right of the loom is a yarn reel stand to roll skeins of yarn into balls. The larger loom is used for yarn production. In 1968, the Shawnee Indian Mission was declared a National Historic Landmark and has since been under the operation of the Kansas Historical Society.
