A letter on August 21, 1872, from T. E. Irvine, informs Kansas Governor Harvey a petition was sent to him to have J. Hennessy appointed as Justice of Peace of Harvey County. In the letter, Irvine states that he recommends and believes Hennessy is fitted for the position. A petition from citizens of Sedgwick City, Harvey County request Freeman Morris as Justice of Peace. A letter on September 6, 1872, from R. W. P. Muse, Attorney at Law, requests John Reid be commissioned as Justice of Peace for Newton, Harvey County. A letter enclosing an application of F. H. Clark for the appointment of Justice of Peace, recommended by all the Lawyers of Eureka Township. The following documents are petitions to the Governor from citizens of townships in Greenwood and Harvey County, recommending certain people for the appointment as Justice of Peace.
