A letter of resignation from A. C. Smith as the Justice of the Peace of Bourbon County, Kansas. In the letter, Smith recommends George. W. Burgess as a suitable person to fill the vacancy. A petition requests and recommends Burgess for the appointment as Justice of the Peace. A letter on April 17, 1872, from C. W. Morris, Bourbon County Treasurer, as well as other county officials, request William Hinton for the position of Justice of Peace. A letter on November 7, 1872, from Brown County Officials, ask Governor Harvey to appoint Thomas Marion as Justice of Peace for their county. Additional correspondence are from individuals making recommendations to Kansas Governor Harvey of specific individuals for the position as Justice of Peace for their county.
