This folder on Resignation comes from the Correspondence series of the Governor Charles Robinson Papers. This record includes two letters of resignation written to Kansas Governor Charles Robinson in December of 1861. One resignation is for the Office of Probate Judge in Brown county and the other is for Justice of the Peace of Coffey county. Charles Robinson was Kansas' first state Governor, serving from 1861 to 1863. He was born in Massachusetts in 1818 and headed the New England Emigrant Aid Company's first colony to Kansas Territory in 1854.
