The slides shown here were taken at a paleontological site in Barber County. The site, an isolated bison skeleton of a probable extinct form, was excavated in 1981 by Kansas Historical Society archeologists. The skeleton was exposed five meters below the modern surface. Shown are fragments of the front leg, vertebrae, ribs and other bone elements.
